Biblioteca Ricardo Streb

Cutting the ribbon!

Cutting the ribbon!

Yesterday was the big day… the Richard Streb Memorial Library is now officially open!  The inauguration was a good time all around, with moving speeches, great musical performances, adorable Dreamers reciting poems, and let’s not forget the delicious pizza.  But most importantly, the event brought to light all of the hard work and dedication that has been put into this project from the very beginning.  From the incredible family that turned their grief into a beautiful gift for a deserving community, to the maestros who turned a sketch into a reality, to the spectacular library staff who have been there for every step along the way – it’s thanks to these incredible individuals (and others that I haven’t mentioned) that this dream was able to come true.  A library is a place of learning that promotes creation and imagination and the Biblioteca Ricardo Streb has given the people of Chacraseca the amazing opportunity to access resources that would otherwise not be available to them.  I’m honored to have witnessed the hard work that’s gone into this project and am so happy that I got the chance to celebrate it’s completion at the inauguration.  I can’t wait to see the library in action!

For more on the library and the inauguration, you can go to Clare Davitt’s blog.  She’s the amazing librarian who’s been working on this project through FNE 🙂
